Heartfelt creations - Gateway to seasons collection

This is my debut as a designer at Dutchpapercrafts.
Many of you know I have been a customer with Darlene and have seen me using so many of the beautiful dies. Except for spellbinder which I used to get from amazon and my embossing folders and cricut dies which I have from local stores most of die collection especially my memory box, cheery lynn etc have been purchased from Darlene at Dutchpapercrafts. Now Pat has joined as a Partner so I should say Darlene and Pat. Oh one thing about Patricia. Did you know she is a mystery writer? Check out her book
Blow Dart - An abduction - http://www.patriciagaylebooks.com/
It is also available in kindle format at amazon. You go girl.
My first love in books is science fiction and second I should say asterix and tintin and 3rd mysteries.
I was so honored when Darlene asked me if I would like to be a designer for her team and so here I am :)

And here goes my first dt assignment - Heartfelt Creations - Gateway to seasons which you can order from here  - http://dutchpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-message-from-patricia.html.

You can watch Darlene' s lovely video presentation here - http://dutchpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2013/07/heartfelt-creations-gateway-to-seasons.html

Gateway to the Seasons Collection:

HCDP1 234 - Daphne Paper Collection
 HCD-737 -  Ornate Gateway Die

HCPC 3539 - All Seasons Gazebo Stamp Set

HCPC 3540 - Spring Stamp Set

HCPC 3541 - Summer Stamp Set

HCPC 3542 - Fall Stamp Set
HCPC 3543 - Winter Stamp Set

HCPC 3544  - All Seasons Sentiments Stamp Set

Aren't they so lovely. To Order click Here. Darlene and Pat for sure have good price

So here are my creations using these lovely products - papers and stamps
For dies used and the names I have these 3 pictures so that you can refer to  see what die or stamp I used and where and also the approx dimensions of project

Fig 1 - (above) card 1 and card 2

Fig 2 - (above) card 3 and card 4
Fig 3 (above) Card 5 and mini album

Now for  cards and one mini

1) Peek a Boo heart card

Many of you know how to make the peek a boo card. It is like a shadow box or stage. When you pull the sides the diecut you place on the strip moves apart and when you compress it back it gets nearer
Here are the cards in action. in normal state without pulling on the side flaps

and pulling on the side flaps

For this I used the All season gazebo HCPC 3539 as the background and colored with copics.
I wanted to place tow lovers there. I initially thought of cutting apart Make it Crafty geeky couple but didn't have the heart to separate them so decided to use 2 hearts instead after watching this awesome video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIl1SXG2IOs

For the Love on the left side I cut apart a cheery lynn B141 - garden of love die
The heart punches are Martha Stewart deep edge punch and lacy scallop heart punch.
To make the punch into a corner I eyeballed the depth of die and the corner space I needed. I then cut a 3" square into 2 triangles (slicing at the diagonal) . Then I punched on the diagonal and voila - a corner.
The flowers are from Quickutz Bouquet - DT0315

2) Fall card

Loved making this card
Used both the fall season stamp and the gate die for this. Also other dies as you can see from fig 1.
For the papers I think this was the only card where I went outside the Daphne paper collection and used my minds eye for the oranges and damask.
I did have to cut apart the bricks from the center landscape.

with gate open

Yep when I assembled I got the brick wall with creeper on left instead of right :) but that's ok or so I tell I myself.

The best thing about this set of the sentiment stamp set HCPC 3544 which can be used for so many occasions. Just stamp once and cut apart as needed. I have used the words god bless your family from that set. Some buttons and spellbinder fall die adds as embellishments.
Now to get the hinge effect out of the gate and to add brad as handle I had to finagle with the gate a bit. I had to reinforce for the brad and make hinges

3) Waterfall card - All seasons

For this card I used 4  of the seasons stamps - fall , winter, summer and spring
You have seen me make a waterfall card before and I do have the file as svg and you can refer to my post
http://papillondigitaldesigns.com/2011/09/waterfall-card.html on how to make them

No fancy cutting. You can do all the cutting with your paper trimmer

I just played with the dimension. As each landscape comes to about 4 inches when stamped )the fall one without the brick is also the same)

so I just played with the dimensions
Card base when folded is 6" x 7.5 " ( so 12 x 7.5" )

and the waterfall strip as I was restricted to 12 inches of length I used a strip 4" x 12 " .

So the first score is at 3.75 inches. so the first edge will peak out by .25 inches but that's not a great deal as you need to attach the scenes at the fold mark.

A figure for just the waterfall strip part

The anchoring strip can be about 1" - 1.5" inch.x 6 ". I cut mine after stamping the border from gazebo set.
except for the white cardstock and the brown paper and more cardstock all the papers are from the Daphne collection. Oh except for the tag which was a sticker from Glitter. Can't remember where I got it. Maybe at a ckc convention or at Joann's
All the images are colored using distress markers this time.
Yep no copics on this one :)

Here we go flipping through all the seasons

and the inside of the card

Love the Daphne paper especially the last 4 pages. The tags and notes (or Atc) are the best. One paper I wish there was not  double sided as that side is lovely too and can not use it :( as front is more tempting.
So that's for the waterfall card

Now let's see - fig 2 card 4

4) Christmas Swing card

The swing portion was cut with label 1.
You can use any die preferably not an intricate die but a solid shape die for swing method using cuttlebug, big shot etc.

The trick is to tape the die to the cardstock approx. where you want the swing to be. Make sure to align the center of the die to where the first score mark should be. This is the most important part. Make sure the top  plate (plate b in cuttlebug) just aligns with the first score mark with remaining parts hanging off the plate. So the pressure is put only on the left side of the die until the score mark and cuts only that part.
Now put the plate on the 2nd score mark so that the parts you cut before + the 1" or 0.75" ie up till the score mark is left hanging outside - no pressure on that portions and cut through.
That way the portions within the score mark are not cut and so the shape swings.

I used the winter set. I stamped the snowflakes and heat embossed - in white on the circle punched piece and also on the sentiment swing portion (with light blue ink and clear embossing)

The tree fleece trim is from costco and the pine cones from Hobby Lobby
The leaf is joy crafts holly ribbon die 6002/0044. It cuts the leaf outline and the flower. I did back up with red card stock with freehand cutting.

5) Lacy Birdhouse card

(refer to fig 3 card 5  - for all the dies )
yep the last 2 projects

I used the heartfelt creations blossom die for the 4 corners. This corner doesn't cut apart so you need to cut some to detach from the rest of the cardstock. For a 6x6 card there is some overlap so I decided to add a flower where they join or overlap. I love the spellbinder radiant rectangle die.

Inside

6) Double Shutter Mini Album

The last project. You can watch youtube how to make this one.

I heat embossed the die (after applying versamark) with copper embossing powder to give metallic look. I also stamped the large border from the summer set and the birdhouse with versamark and heat embossed all of them with copper embossing powder

When you open

right side

Now I had to make a box for these cards didn't I?
So here is the box. Since I needed full 12" in length I had to piece it together .

Well that's all the projects using this wonderful collection.
I just love this set.

Challenge #72 at DS4J - fancy fold and handmade flowers

The challenge #72 this fortnight at DS4J is 'Fancy fold and handmade flowers"
Each month one of the  DS4J DT member will be sponsoring the challenge.
This month's challenge is given to you by Asmah
So just make a fancy fold on your paper project and use atleast one handmade flower. They can be  punched, folded, cut with scissors, or diecut. And link it up at  DS4J
I used this pretty image called A letter for you
The flowers are cut with spellbinder  and rolled (like quilling). The fancy fold I used was double accordion.

Image is colored with copics and I used E30 to antique it up a bit and to get the cream color.
The arch at the top is from a gate spellbinder die.
Since I used 2 pattern papers one for the inside fold and one for outside I had to make a dry run before assembling it. Since they just go in a slot it was easy to do.
You can see how to make this card in youtube. Christinia from card making magic has made a video. I so admire her work and as I love fancy folds I love googling and searching for ideas. There is a site called A-Z cards. You can google and check out that too. They haven't covered all the cards but they do have many you can have fun making.

Now for some fun challenges I am entering this card in

When Oppurtunity Doesn't knock

Elenor's Door is one of this Sunday's release at Digistamps4joy this week.
Inspired by a trip Elenor one of the DT member's took Margy drew this beautiful door.
Here is the door in a card

The die cut is anna griffin's die floral and I just cut half of it off. The brick like embossing is fiskars plates. I inked it further to pop up the embossing using colorbox chalk ink
The blue quarterfoil shape is remaining piece of the die cut and I just cut some portions off and stuck a flower sticker on top of it.
Door colored with copics
The background paper is made by spraying dylusions spray. Looks so lovely up close.

'Girly Girl' (and a freebie up for grabs!)

Hi Everyone

This is Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink, thanks so much Pam for inviting me over to play.
Today Sassy Studios is sponsoring the challenge over at Charisma Cardz, the theme for this challenge is 'Girly'.  Well I don't think they come any more 'girly' than Samantha from "Sex In The City" and so I just had to use 'Samantha Sassy'.  Here is my card.

The image is coloured with ProMarkers, the paper is from a stack called 'So Sophie' (My Minds Eye), the swirls and flowers are die cuts and the sentiment is an old set from The Angel Company.

I hope you will join the challenge over at Charisma Cardz for a chance to win some sassy images of your own.

But wait....I mentioned a 'freebie' didn't I?  Lindsay is giving away another free image today and tomorrow over at Sassy Studios Party Blog - what are you waiting for?  Run and grab it quick!

Until next time.

Ahh I wish I feel 100% normal again!
Hate my coloring and how tired I get easily.
Well on bright side I can craft again.
I have watch parts which I recycled and added to the a the brad punch from i top
I decided to write out the sentiment on left instead of running up and down printing it.
