Scrappin Saturday - Thanksgiving card

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
I wanted to share a quick card I made for Thanksgiving today.
Now surprise I did not use any die cutting system except scissors and a fiskar cutter for this one. My handy dandy Dover Image and Illustrator , some cardstock (green) and pattern paper, ink, glue - zip dry and pop dots and glue dots, some twine and ribbon and wait for it - a party ring and I was in business. Party ring ? what party ring? Someone gave my son some party rings  in goody bag. He told me Mom I am a boy what will I do with this? You can have it and so the party ring was manhandled and the ring part cut off (pretty easily as it was plastic) and lo behold an embellishment.
Here is the card

And here is the images I printed out

The border/pattern in the pattern was a bit too large and I wanted more of the brown to show through so I cut the border/pattern and used it for the inside and the label sentiment on inside.

The label yellow was left over scrap from another project I wrote Happy Thanksgiving on it and doodled a bit . Matted it with brown pattern paper. Added some more border pieces which I had cut .Tied some twine and added a blue rhinestone and card is done.
A quick simple card for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for reading this post . I so love to hear your feedback and comments. Thanks for taking the time to leave comments. It is so much appreciated and inspiring.
Please do share your Thanksgiving Card in the linky tool below.

Ribbons and Rosettes

yep finally used my cricut! For this cartridge.
I had not updated for a while and the latest updates sucked so waited before updating as for the life of me I cannot (ok I can but I prefer ) use the cricut without gypsy . Also when you have other toys you have got to play with them especially when you can be a bit lazy and print and cut and match and not use your paper stash! That's why I got an Imagine but that dang thing needs updates too and lol updating that is a nightmare!
But Sigh one has to use their paper stash or so my friends tell me and after a long time I splurged and got some cartridges and Ribbons and Rosettes was one of them. Now I like this cartridge  for borders but the Rosettes are a bit PIA. It  is a bit of trial and error as you do not know how many pieces you have to cut. I cut mine at 2.5 but wish I had cut at 2 or 1.5. I hacked off about 3/4" and I initially cut just 1 piece though I could see that it would not be enough but since it was G I could reload the paper and place a 2 or 3 more in the uncut regions of the paper .
so if the size is about 2 " cut 3 or preferable 4 pieces to form the Rosette. And I think the centers are not automatically sized as mine cut a bit too big. Have to cut more to make sure of this
The frame is Ornamental Iron 2. I am a sucker for these  iron designs.
Paper is from K & Company - Wild Saffron. As I felt there was not much contrast I used a maroon cardstock to layer.
I did not cut the tulip or whatever flower for Rosette center but instead used a turkey from My community I think.
I think enough of rambling and let me put on the pictures

The inside of the card I used the large turkey I had cut with the rosette instead of throwing it away. Since I did not know the size I wanted for center I cut it about 1" and 1.5 " and I used the smaller one for the envelope

So there is my first cricut card after a long time and using the Ribbons & Rosettes and Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge. The card base is from Plantin . I hid the holes using hide contour.

Scrappin' Saturday - Swing card using Silhouette studio (designer version) & giveaway Winner!

Hi everyone. It's Scrappin' Saturday and time to play again.
But before that the winner of the nestabilities and MS stamp set is

BloggerMichelle said...
Such a beautiful card, and great video. Thanks for the giveaway and have a great day tomorrow :)
Congrats Michelle. Send me your address to the email at the contact us above in the tab and the package will be on it's way to you

Now
Let's make a swing card.
Here's the template in case you want to cut it out with cutting knife or any cutting tool

Here's a video showing how to go about getting a swing card template using silhouette studio designer edition. I ma dedicating this to Dayna and Dawn my friends who recently got the cameo and are playing with the software.

I have the svg file and studio file (not with  pattern but just the basic squares so that you can also play along loaded under the the respective file tabs.

Here's a quick look at the card. Of course if you are using the studio to make your image make sure to change the line color to transparent in your scores marks. I haven't done so in the video and here as I wanted the red line to show for camera purposes

Of course this will not be my actual card as the lines need to go and I would embellish this more add blings and flowers etc .
Almost the same thing needs to be done in your svg program or any other software (not cricut cds or G as those do not allow node manipulations but if you do need gypsy file check in thebugbytes blog as I think I made this way back)
Hope you enjoyed watching the video. Let's meet up next Saturday again for another project.
And if you make a swing card and play do link up your project in the linky

Scrap it Saturday - Fun with embossing and a giveaway

Hello Everyone.
Join me for Scrapping on Saturday.
Let's explore techniques, software on scrapping and make papercrafting items.
Today I decided to do some embossing!
I love embossing! Something about seeing the powder change when a heat gun is applied really appeals to me and is so fun to watch.
The card for today

The cardstock is bazzill cocoa. The pattern paper is K&Company ancestry stack. envelope is bazill which fits 5 x 7 card. The base card is cut 4 & 3/4" X 12" to fold to 4 3/4" x 6 and the pattern paper is cut 1/4 inch lesser. I kept all the remaining pieces and reused then for envelope flap and punching flowers etc. Punch for envelope is MS punch. I used spell binder shapebilities to cut the doily and stamped with versamark using MS doily stamp. The nestability/shapebility I used was floral motif. Though the design was cute since it is not a nestability I got quite a bit of jump between 2 layers and had to use a scallop nestability for another layer . You can see the pink shimmer dcwv cardstock. The embossing powder is zing copper. The sentiment on the inside is from paper trey inc. I used a ribbon  I had got from HL. I distressed the edges of the pattern paper using Tim holtz distresser and inked using dew drop rich cocoa.
Here is the video. (I am uploading it and it might not appear immediately)

I would so love it if you join me and make a card or layout of using embossing and post it in the linky below.
Now for the giveaway. Tomorrow is my birthday and so  what better way to celebrate than a giveaway? I will be giving away a nestability

& a Martha Stewart Doily stamp

to one lucky winner. To win you must be a follower as I would like to see the blog grow) and also leave a comment in this post.

I would so so love to see your project using embossing. Does not matter if you made it today or days back. Do post your embossing project in the link below.
Also be sure to drop in on http://www.thebugbytes.com as there is another giveaway there

Bob to the Top

Hello
This is Pam from Sassy's Design Team. Thank you Sheila for having me here as your designer today.
If you dropped in last week to my blogs (Papillon Digital Designs & The Bug Bytes ) you would know I was organizing all my stamps and cleaning up my scraproom - lol in fact my whole house needed cleaning. I found some things like corks and a packaging spongy like paper thingy which came with close to my heart stamps etc and  decided to recycle/use them in a project.

I have fallen in love with kraft paper  - Recollections. The other paper is from K & Company - I think the designer pad. Some chalk inks, staz on - black ink, stamps - yep after all the organizing gotta use them don't I ? and nestabilities - scallop and of course some tinkering with AI to create my own text (don't know what I was thinking when I typed that in but lol that's what came to my mind when I saw the cork :) ) I was set to make my card. The font is Bauhese free font and the flowers from some other font. You can click on the image and print it out if you like it.

Oh and some Ribbons. Yes the big wide costco ribbon and another smaller one from HL which so looks like the costco one.

I just traced a walmart cup rim onto the cork and cut it with scissors. It is about 3.5 inches. Then I stamped a doily shape onto the white spongy thingy with staz on ink and cut that out too. You can't see the print too clearly here but you can when you see it in person. A MS flower punch on a scrap piece. Then the wired costco ribbon comes in so handy as it retains the fold shape easily. So fold the ribbon in a rosette shape and glue it on. Some bling and some sharpie on the cork and the rosette is ready. The kraft paper I cut it 12" x 6" and the k & company paper to 5" x 11.5".

The inside of the card

This is for Dayna and Carole and Jeannie - my design team members. I used layers and pop dart. I do layer but left to myself I would have just stacked - 1 white scallop (label) on the brown. But nope these ladies especially the first two made me do it - well not made me but encouraged me/egged me on to do this - stack like this.

I have told them I will do this on solid cardstock or printed out things but nope not on my lovely stack of patterned papers. As it is each time I use these stacks - it's like pulling out my teeth :).
So that's my card. Recycle some of your things - make a project and show us what you have done and post in the linky below
And Be sure to drop in tomorrow at the TheBugBytes . I have a surprise.
